James Edward "Jim" Haan, age 60, went to be with his Lord November 1, 2019 at home under the care of Spectrum Health Hospice, with his brother at his side. The son of Gordon Sr., & Iris (Ray) Haan, he was born August 19, 1959 in Grand Rapids.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Julie Haan. Jim is survived by his brothers, Gordon Haan Jr., Craig Haan, along with a plethora of friends and cousins.
Jim will be remembered for many things, but most of all his zest for life. He had a passion for sports - mainly golf and baseball. Jim was also an avid fisherman and hunter, with plans of making it out to the field yet this season. In his later years Jim had a green thumb and tended his garden and yard.
After Jim was diagnosed with cancer, he volunteered and was a member of the Spectrum Health Patient and Family Advisory Council. One of Jim's favorite time of year was when he volunteered at the Meijer Simply Give LPGA golf tournament. The thing he cherished the most was the friendships he built over the years. He could talk to just about anyone about anything. Jim will be sorely missed by his brothers, and scores of those who loved him.
Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends and family may gather at 10 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3215 4 Mile Road N.E., Grand Rapids, 49525 with a memorial service starting at 11 AM, with Pastor David Blank officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the celebration center.
