James Lamar Gingerich, 64, passed away late Saturday night, December 8, 2018, at home under the care of Spectrum Health Hospice, with his family at his side.
The son of Jacob & Gertrude (Schrock) Gingerich, he was born August 29, 1954 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
James was a spiritual man, who had a passion for creating art out of wood. He will be remembered for his sharp tongue, quick wit, and having a big heart. James loved all sports, especially Nascar and college basketball, and you could always count on him rooting on his beloved Notre Dame teams. However, his favorite pass time was spending time with his cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren. James is survived by his children, Katina (John) Hall, Heather Gingerich, Jamie Chlebana, Sara Gingerich, Josephine Gingerich, and Jason (Shannon) Crame; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family and friends.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Services will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
