James Friel

James H Friel of Martin, Mi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his home.

He was born on August 10th 1938 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, to Raymond and Adeline (Howard) Friel.

On August 10, 1956, he married the love of his life, Sharon Stoughton. They shared 68 years together.

Jim was known for his kindness & strong work ethic, employee of Allied paper mill for 39 years. He had a love of gardening since childhood, enjoyed visiting with friends and family on the back porch, family reunions, and winters in Arizona.

Jim was a dedicated father to Cam, Cindy, Dawn, & Brenda. A cherished Grandfather to April, Cameron, Kyle, Jessica, Jeffrey, Wesley, Adam, Clinton, and Bernard, and a loving Grampy to 15 great grandchildren.

He is is survived by 3 sisters, Ruby Brest, Nel Swinsick, Diane Deiwert, and 2 brothers, Tom Nesbitt and Ken Nesbitt.

He was preceded in death by his son Cam, sisters Bebe Thomas, Linda Delmoro, and brother Raymond Friel.

Jim’s Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
