James Jim Akkerhuis, age 78, of Lincoln Lake, formerly of Greenville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2005 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The son of Jacobis Cornelius & Adriana Maude (Benchop) Akkerhuis, he was born on Feb. 11, 1927 in Grand Rapids. On Aug. 6, 1951, in Angola, Indiana, he married the former Kathleen Ellen McBain. A loving husband and father, Jims proudest moments in life were at the birth of each of his children and his 54 years of marriage to Kay.
