H.L. Jacques Foster, age 82, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, October 19th, 2012 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids following a brief illness.
The son of Kenneth C. and Thelma L. (Frisbie) Foster, he was born in Howard City, and was a 1948 graduate of Greenville High School. A twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Jacques attained the rank of Staff Sgt. and served as a medic as part of the Army of Occupation of Germany and France following World War II, as well as in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Following his retirement from the military he had a career as a long time business owner.
Jacques was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Foster; two brothers, William Foster and Paul Foster; and one sister, Freida Foster.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine F. Foster of Greenville; a daughter, Che(c)ri Foster; two granddaughters and one great grandson; a brother, Gerald & Irma Foster; two sisters, Mertice Ehlert and Louise Finkbeiner; nephews, David & Sue Foster, and Louis & Terry Foster. He will be remembered by many more nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
