Jacob Hoekstra

Jacob Hoekstra, age 78, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1943, in Paw Paw, to Andrew & Helen Hoekstra. Jacob was a wonderful, father, grandfather, friend and coach. He was dependable and hard working. He worked and retired from General Motors and worked part time at Great Lakes Belting for a time. He enjoyed his retirement with hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He was on several golf and bowling leagues. He enjoyed his grandkids watching them in the sports they participated in. Survivors include his son, Mark (Darlene) Hoekstra; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea (Justin) Jackson of Kentucky and James Hoekstra of Decatur; special son, Jeff Heflin and his partner Lauren Kendrick; two brothers, Bill (Sue) Hoekstra and Randy (Yvonne) Hoekstra; five sisters, Sue Miller, Marilyn Motycka, Elaine (Mike) Imbordino, Joan Henry and Grace (Terry) Zimmerman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth; son, James John; and his parents, Andrew & Helen; three brothers-in-law, Richard Miller, Harold Henry and Mick Motycka.
