Rose City

Jack Andrew McGregor passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5th, 2026 at the Villa in Rose City. Jack was 87.

He graduated from Rose City High School in 1957. At the age of 12, he started cutting grass at the Rose City Cemetery. He worked at Quigley's Gas Station, Green's Gas, Bernerd Card Construction, and as a steel worker (local union 25), retiring in 1992.

Jack married the love of his life, Rhea Mason, on January 29, 1982. After retiring they moved from Zilwaukee back to Rose City. They loved being back in their hometown with family and friends and several spoiled cats. They were active in the community, volunteering for 15 years at Ogemaw County Fairgrounds.

Jack and his wife traveled the world including 48 states of the 50, wintering in Gulf Shores Alabama.

Jack enjoyed many hobbies including snowmobiling around Lake Superior. Other enjoyments included bicycling, fishing, hunting, cross country skiing, and riding his motorcycles until the age of 80.

Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge (376) for over 50 years, Rose City Historical Society and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Rose City where he was a faithful parishioner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Rhea, sisters Dorothy (Gartee), Alice (Pyne), Barb (Cerbantes), Dianna Dee and Diane McGregor.

He is survived by his sister Roxanne (Cliff) Morton, his children Carl (Kenalee) McGregor, Bob (Kimi) Shugart, Tina (Arche) Tacderas, Dan (Rita) Mason, John Mason, Gerry (Dina) Mason and Terri (John) Lepeck, 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren as well many nieces and nephews, plus a very special friend, Sue Oyster (Ziemer) along with Carl Buck and Carl Wickwire.

Jack will be missed by many.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, February 22nd in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 165 East Sage Lake Road, Rose City, Michigan 48654.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Parks and Recreation in Rose City, in honor of Jack McGregor.
