Jack Gordon

August 21, 2005 — September 13, 2023

Jack Patrick Gordon, age 18, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. The son of Allison Kelly Geary & Eric Jack Gordon, he was born on August 21, 2005 in Grand Rapids. From the moment he was born, he fought to live in this world when doctors predicted a very short life. Despite his disability with cerebral palsy and the complications that came with it, Jack overcame a number of obstacles in life with a smile on his face. He was never able to walk, talk, or care for himself but that didn't stop him from living life to it's fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family, from the mundane moments to the exciting ones. He especially enjoyed being at his Papa's cottage listening to birds and boats. He loved being in the middle of chaos and never turned down a good nap at a party. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to his sisters argue but also enjoyed the fact that they included him in on everything. He loved Mickey and Bluey and attention from nurses. He loved licks of ice cream and his infamous dark parties. His father assumes that Jack thought his dad was the most hilarious person ever but his mother begs to differ. We may never know the answer but the debate will live on. Jack may have spent some of his life in physical pain but he only knew love and devotion. He never knew heartbreak or heard an ill word spoken about him and THAT is something to celebrate. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Robin Athey. Surviving are his parents, Eric Gordon & Allison Geary-Gordon; his beloved sisters, Sidney and Pyper; grandparents, Diane Lippert, Daniel & Janna Gordon, Kevin Geary & Kristy Salva; uncles, Dan, Brad, and Keegan; aunts, Heidi and Lauren; cousins, Drew and Jillian; plus a long list of distant cousins, aunts, and uncles who all cherished him. Jack's family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff who helped take care if him over the years. Two, in particular, have been there since the very beginning... his pediatrician, Dr. Kathleen Howard, and his neurologist, Dr. Jason Umfleet. A celebration of Jack's life will occur at a later date when his family is ready. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack's name to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital or your local Child Life organization. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
