Irma Josie Parker, age 96, of Greenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 27, 2011 from Crystal Haven Adult Foster Care Home in Vestaburg.
The daughter of Percy & Myrtle (Kreider) Walkington, she was born on August 20, 1914 in North Bradley and retired from the former Ore-Ida Foods plant in Greenville.
She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and will be remembered by her family for talents in the kitchen with her plain old midwest cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Jean Froling, Myrtle Walkington, Doris Cook, and Gladys Hubbard; and two brothers, Colon Walkington and Benjamin Walkington.
Surviving are her three children, Joyce Webster of Long Beach, California; Gweneth & Jerry Hale of Springfield, Missouri, and Greg & Priscilla Parker of Sacramento, California; three grandchildren, Annette Bowen, Tamara Cowles, and Michael Parker; six great grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Visitation is Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Rev. Daniel Mead, associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will follow at Fairplains Township Cemetery.
