Iretha Dilno, age 89, of Stanton, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. The daughter of Grover C. & Gladys Madge (Gordon) Smith, she was born on December 3, 1923 in Sheridan. On October 17, 1944 she married Edward L. Dilno and together they enjoyed almost 69 years of marriage and raised three daughters. A devoted wife, mother, and grandma, she will be remembered as an excellent cook and a skilled seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hazel Hancock; and three brothers, Earl Bill Smith, Grover Smith, and Alton Jeff Smith. Surviving are her husband, Edward L. Dilno of Stanton; three daughters, Beverley & Charles Baxter of St. Louis, Cheryl Peasley of Six Lakes, and Jacklyn Fachting of St. Louis; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alena Kimble and JoAnne & Lewis Nielsen, all of Stanton; three brothers, Carl & Sandra Smith of Entrican, Charles & Maudene Smith of Portland, and Jerry Smith of Leslie; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Smith of Sidney and Donna Smith of Sheridan; and many nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Contributions in memory of Iretha may be directed to Mid-Michigan Hospice.
