Mrs. Inez Marie McCracken, age 90, of Crystal, passed away early Sunday morning, December 26, 2010, at The Laurels of Carson City. The daughter of Roy & Pearl (Wiltse) Ouderkirk, she was born on December 20, 1920 in Isabella County. Following her high school graduation, she attended Central Michigan University and on February 1, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, she married James V. McCracken. Together they raised five children and enjoyed camping and traveling. Inez was actively involved with her church, Freedom Way Church of God in Crystal, serving as the pianist for many years. After her children started school, Inez reentered the workforce as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and then Carson City Hospital. She retired from Carson City-Crystal Schools where she worked as a teachers aide at Crystal Elementary She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of nearly 70 years, James V. McCracken of Crystal; two daughters, Jan & Jerry Thomsen, Beth & Vic Nodus, all of Crystal; three sons, Bill & Vicki McCracken of Lansing, Phil McCracken of Crystal, and Mark & Terri McCracken of Newaygo; siblings, Dorothy Andersen of Perry, Dale & Donna Ouderkirk of Bradenton, Fla., Vale Ouderkirk of Midland, Nora Ouderkirk of Okemos, and Foster & Donna Ouderkirk of Davenport, Fla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Freedom Way Church of God, 1637 S. Crystal Road, Crystal, MI 48818.
