Ida Watts

Mrs. Ida L. Jones-Watts, age 100, of Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, March 11, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The daughter of Peter & Anna Hill, she was born on Aug. 10, 1905 in Louisiana, and was raised by her grandmother, Minnie. Ida was a long time member of the Greenville Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses and found great comfort, strength, and peace in Bible study. She was a very special mother, grandmother, and friend to her adopted family and loved to cook. She enjoyed traveling and making new friends everywhere she went. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Fred W. Jones, and Ted Watts; four brothers and a sister; and her adopted grandson, Fred Silverthorne. Surviving are two nieces, Gloria & Ira Jones of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ida Johnson of Louisiana; her adopted family, Harry & Patricia Silverthorne and family, of Greenville; special friend, Jeanette Kent of Greenville; and her faith family at the Greenville Kingdom Hall. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with Mr. John LaFond officiating. Honoring her wishes, cremation followed. Graveside committal services are at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Sheridan Cemetery. Ida would have appreciated contributions in her memory of the Kingdom Hall New Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
