Henry Snead, Jr., age 62, of Berrien Springs, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek. The son of Fairy Mae (Dudley) & Henry Snead, Sr., he was born on Oct. 25, 1948 in Benton Harbor. Following his graduation from high school, Henry proudly served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Bosch Braking Systems where he worked as a machinist for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Henry Snead Sr.; and a son, Shawn Greer. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Cummings-Snead of Berrien Springs; his mother, Fairy Mae Webb; three children, Sheldon Nelson, Monica Doss, and Heather Greer; four step-children, Citholetta Cummings-Franklin, Tillies Cummings, Carolyn (Dwight) Bowman and Mario Cummings; two sisters, Diane Cole and Annette Webb; one brother, Ross "Buddy" Webb; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1105 E. Main Street, Benton Harbor, where home going services will be held in honor of Henry Snead Jr. at 12:00 Noon. Private committal services, with full military honors, will take place on Tuesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
