Henry Snead

Henry Snead, Jr., age 62, of Berrien Springs, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek. The son of Fairy Mae (Dudley) & Henry Snead, Sr., he was born on Oct. 25, 1948 in Benton Harbor. Following his graduation from high school, Henry proudly served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Bosch Braking Systems where he worked as a machinist for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his father Henry Snead Sr.; and a son, Shawn Greer. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Cummings-Snead of Berrien Springs; his mother, Fairy Mae Webb; three children, Sheldon Nelson, Monica Doss, and Heather Greer; four step-children, Citholetta Cummings-Franklin, Tillies Cummings, Carolyn (Dwight) Bowman and Mario Cummings; two sisters, Diane Cole and Annette Webb; one brother, Ross "Buddy" Webb; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1105 E. Main Street, Benton Harbor, where home going services will be held in honor of Henry Snead Jr. at 12:00 Noon. Private committal services, with full military honors, will take place on Tuesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
