Mr. Henry E. Ryckman, age 80, of Vestaburg, passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 23, 2006, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. Born on March 3, 1926, near Shepherd, he was one of eleven children of Cecil J. & Carrie (Nichols) Ryckman. On December 4, 1946, in Riverdale, he married Betty Jean Sheldon.
A proud veteran of World War II, Henry served with the U.S. Army. He retired from Alma Products after 37 years of employment, and had attended the Ferris Center Church of Christ. Over the years he had been a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, was involved in 4-H, and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Hazel, Katie, Emma, Mable, Eldred, Chauncy, Allen, and Harry; a son-in-law, Robert Henderline; and a grandson, Tracy Terwilliger. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Ryckman of Vestaburg; his children, John & Denise Ryckman of Edmore, Rita Henderline of Alma, Harry & Gloria Ryckman of Vestaburg, Allen & Colene Ryckman of Greenville, Ruth Ann & Ed Gallop of Breckenridge, Peter & Diane Ryckman of North Carolina, Danny & Char Ryckman, and Duane & Jamie Ryckman, all of Riverdale; his sister, Helen Haag of Wisconsin; a brother Cecil W. Ryckman of Elm Hall; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
