Helen Louise Burns, age 82, formerly of Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, December 31, 2014 at Mercy Health-St. Marys Hospital in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Robert & Beryl (Parker) Martin, she was born on November 30, 1932 in Greenville.
Although primarily a homemaker, Helen had worked outside the home at the old Jiffy Burger Drive-In in Greenville, had been a member of the Rebekahs (the female auxiliary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows) and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101, and enjoyed playing BINGO and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Allen Bob Burns III on March 7, 2005; a sister, Sue Arlene Hoye on August 1, 2009; and her former husband, Robert Allen Burns II on April 11, 2013.
Surviving are her daughters, Rebecah Benjamin of Grand Rapids, Sherry & Lindon Buckley of Belding, and Cathy & Rich Rush of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Lisa Bristol, Carl Wise, Melissa Benjamin, Stephanie Ollson, Sherry Lynn Oetting, Terry Buckley, Borden Buckley, Mindy Key, and Heather Pendock; and several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation is Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with a family prayer service at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As Helen wished, cremation will follow and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
