Hazel Pearl Hyde, age 76, of Gowen, passed away late Sunday evening, March 11, 2012 at Spectrum Health Kelsey Campus in Lakeview. The daughter of Veral and Elizabeth (Cummins) Griffin, she was born on November 3rd, 1935 in Ada, Michigan. On July 22, 1961, in Belding, she married Harold L. Hyde and together they enjoyed 26 years of marriage.
Hazel was a long time employee of the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, and also spent many years working at Admiral. She had many hobbies including plastic canvas, playing cards, board games and puzzles. She especially enjoyed cats and dogs and was a very big fan of old time country music.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold Hyde on July 22, 1987; and a brother, Arthur Griffin, in 2007.
Surviving are her children, David (Jody) Burns of Stanton, Arthur (Phyllis) Burns of Cadillac, Christine Jones of St. Louis, Terry (Carmon) Hyde of Belding and Leann (Bill) Kushmaul of Montana; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; a sister, Viola (Russell) deBeaumont of Lansing; a brother, Frank Griffin of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
The Rev. Ken Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society will be available at the funeral home.
