January 25, 1926 — May 23, 2019

Hattie Janett Hathaway, 93, passed away Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 at home under the care of Faith Hospice, with her family at her side. The daughter of Thomas & Vivian (Cole) Hogendyk, she was born January 25, 1926 in Grand Rapids. Tootie was a graduate of Creston High and Grand Rapids Community College. She was a prominent member of both St. Alphonsus Co- Redemptorist and Catherine Care Center, and also an active UAW union member for over 25 years. She retired from Lear Seigler Aerospace Instrument, Flight Controls Division after 32 years. Tootie was a life long animal lover. She contributed to many various charities throughout the years. Her favorite times were those spent camping at Pentwater State Park when her children were young. She was preceded in death by husbands, Donald Hathaway, D.C. Thompson, and Fred Boogert. She is survived by her children, Mary Flickinger, Donna & Chuck Bobo, and Mike & Cathy Hathaway; special stepson, Fred & Sharon VandenBoogert; brother-in-law, George Hathaway; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue S.E., Wyoming, 49548. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Tootie's memory to God's Kitchen. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation and Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
