Harley Miller

June 17, 1913 — October 14, 2005

Mr. Harley E. Miller, age 92, of Vestaburg, formerly of Lansing and Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 14, 2005, with family members at his bedside, at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. The son of Norton H. & Alice (Wheeler) Miller, he was born on June 17, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan. Harley worked in the electrical and building trades in Lansing, until retiring in 1978 and moving to Bass Lake near Vestaburg. He was a dedicated husband and loved his family. He was married for 68 years to Dorothy Saylor, who preceded him in death in July of 2002. He was also preceded in death by their daughter Marlene and her husband Neal Groth. Surviving are three children, Jan & Bill Butler of Vestaburg, Neal & Linda Miller of Crystal, and Ray & Maureen Miller of Oakland; ten grandchildren, Sunanda (Dan) Chesebro of Greenville, Nathan (Ann) Miller of Greenville, Rachel Franks of Alma, Bill (Abi) Butler of Fort Wayne, Eileen and Karrie Butler of Vestaburg, Mark (Sue) Groth of MN, Jon (Pat) Groth of WA, Paul (Lisa) Groth of MN, and Phillip (Angela) Groth of MN; and 13 great grandchildren, Adrianna, Aleshia, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Will, Kristy, Joshua, Jacob, Adam, Madelyn, Isaiah, Rebecca and Shawn. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the Seville Church of God, 8360 W. Monroe (M46), Elwell, Michigan.
