Grover Cleveland North, age 72, of Greenville, passed way Wednesday morning, August 7, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family after a brief illness. The son of Walter & Madeline (Turner) North, he was born on November 7, 1940 in Munising. He married the love of his life, Susann E. Babcock on July 15, 1961 in Roscommon, and together they raised three children and enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
Grover retired as a production supervisor from General Motors after 42 years of service in 2005. He enjoyed history, fishing, genealogy and being with nature in all of the Michigan seasons. In 2008 he and Susann moved to Greenville to be near family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jeffrey G. North.
Surviving are his wife, Susann North of Greenville; children, Steven & Vicky North of Austin, Texas; daughter Sue Ann & Scott Straka of Temperance, Michigan, six grandchildren, one great grandchild; siblings, Chuck & Sherry North of Mio, Ellen Ellis of Nashville, Tennessee, Ray & Debbie North of Henderson, Kentucky, Roy & Karlette North of Harlan, Iowa, Jean Thompson of Sumptner, South Carolina, Jane Turping of Negaunee, and Gary North of Grayling; numerous siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and two dachshunds.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, corner of Cass and Franklin streets, Greenville, with Pastor Steve Charnley officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow the ceremony in the church hall.
