Greta Ann Satterlee, age 72, of Belding, Michigan, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Mission Point of Greenville. Born on March 19, 1951 in South Boardman, Michigan, she worked for several years at the former Electrolux Home Products in Greenville, Michigan until the plant closed in 2006, then worked as a certified nurses’ aide at Metron of Belding.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt, she found her greatest joy in time spent with her family… especially late night talks (where your secrets were always safe to tell), shopping with her granddaughters, and meals out with family. When it comes to a good cup of coffee, she could out drink anyone around! Greta had a lifelong appreciation of music, was a wonderful dancer, and had been a member of the Greenville Adult Singles Club. She enjoyed watching comedies, planting flower gardens, and crocheting.
Greta was a true fashionista; always working hard at putting together "just the right outfits" - for her and the granddaughters. It was hard to tell just who could out shop who! She held a keen appreciation for beauty and when she'd see it, you'd hear "Now that's SHARP!" You could find Greta on any given day visiting local stores, even if it was to just get out of the house for some fresh air, new scenery, or exercise. During her healthier years, she took pleasure in neighborhood walks around Belding with Rachel & Peaches, and Les & Holli. Peachy, the dog, always knew exactly where Gma's house was and would cross the street at the precise location just to get to her.
Greta was most proud of her years spent traveling and living in foreign countries. She delighted in learning unique perspectives of different cultures and seeing new things outside of small town life USA. These awe-inspiring experiences gave her the opportunity to share many quality stories, pictures, and items with loved ones over the years.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful roommate and newfound friend, Peggy Theodore, for all the shared talks, food, company and watching over our mother while in the nursing home. You have been a source of great comfort; making sure Mom was rarely alone or lonesome. We greatly appreciate you and your sweet family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys L. (Myers) Gardner; two sisters, Oralean Kern and Judy Griffin; and a brother, Douglas Gardner.
Surviving are her children, Rachel Satterlee (Mark Videan) of Morrison Lake, and Les Satterlee (Holli Olsen) of Reed City, Michigan; three granddaughters, Kimberlee Satterlee, Rebecca McGill (Corey Roth), and Breanna Conley; several nieces & nephews whom are wide spread all across the U.S., yet ALWAYS remained close in her heart and mind; special sisters-in-law, Jean (Satterlee) Daller, Donnean (Gardner) Slaughter and Shirley (Satterlee) Braman; and lifelong dear friends, Barbara Scott, Mary Decker, Annie (Boli) Crebessa, and Peggy Gregory.
Greta would give you her last dollar when she had it. Oftentimes, if asked to borrow $5, she would give you $20 (or more) instead! Always steadfast in her hopes of winning or finding "big money" one day...we hope that you have finally found your Pot of Gold, Mom!
A celebration of Greta’s life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
