Gabriel Phillip “G.P.” Hudson, age 49, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in the emergency room of Sunrise Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The son of Gabriel Lee & Nan Elaine (Merritt) Hudson, he was born on May 1, 1976 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, while his family was stationed at Fort Bragg.
On November 13, 1998, at Rockford, Michigan, he married Tara Elizabeth Brannen and together raised three children and enjoyed nearly 28 years of marriage.
G.P. had been a firefighter with Pasco County Fire & Rescue until moving to Las Vegas. A life-long fan of Notre Dame football, he also enjoyed mixed martial arts and music, but found his greatest joy in time spent with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an infant sister, Jennifer Hudson; an infant brother, Michael Hudson; and a brother, Carl Hudson.
Surviving are his wife, Tara Hudson of Las Vegas, Nevada; their children, Austin & Samantha Hudson of Columbus, Ohio, Kaity Hudson of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Audrey Hudson of St. Petersburg, Florida; a grandson, Owen Wood of St. Petersburg, Florida; his parents, Gabe & Nan Hudson of Byron Center; sisters and brothers, Loan Hudson of Lorton, Virginia, Curt & Laura Hudson of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, Cari & Charles Ledbetter of Beaver Island, Michigan, Christina & Bobby Winters of Byron Center, Michigan, and Peter Hudson of Indianapolis, Indiana; parents-in-law, Ranae Pierce of Gulfport, Mississippi, and George & Mitzie Brannen of Statesboro, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Shawn Brannen of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Josh & Lauren Dykes of Statesboro, Georgia; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue S.E. at 36th Street (one block west of Eastern Avenue), Grand Rapids, with a Rosary prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Francis Xavier & Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 250 Brown Street S.E., Grand Rapids, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Rev. Father Edwin Carreno will celebrate the Mass, with Rite of Committal to follow at Blain Cemetery in Gaines Township.
