Gordon Wallace Grant, age 86, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. The son of Charles & Mary (Wallace) Grant, he was born on February 27, 1932 in Lansing. After graduating from Sexton High School, Gordon attended Michigan State University until he was drafted by the United States Army. Gordon served during the Korean Conflict with the 338th Military Radar Unit. Once Gordon returned home from duty, he attended Olivet College and met the love of his life, Joanna. Gordon and Joanna were married on November 6, 1959, and happily spent the next 58 years together. He also dedicated 35 years of employment to Ohio Casualty Insurance as a Regional Manager. Gordon loved to go sailing, play a couple rounds of golf, and be out in the yard tending to the garden and landscaping. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Joanna; their two daughters, Beth (Tom) Ainsworth and Amy (Brad) Lentz of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Grant Ainsworth, Murphy Ainsworth, Colton Lentz and Addie Lentz; as well as his niece, Kathy Leneck of Sugar Land, Texas. Visitation with the family is from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1100 Lake Drive S.E., Grand Rapids, where memorial services, with military honors, will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Faith Hospice, or Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
