Gordon Drummond

Gordon Rockwell Drummond, age 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 25, 2019. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosemary and her children, Mary, Mark, and David Leslie; Gordon's son, Kirk Drummond and daughter, Shawn Jones; three grandchildren, Matt Drummond, Lindsay Woodworth, and Charles Drummond; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bruce and Don Drummond. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Drummond; brother, David; and sister, Beverly Slaski. Gordon was born May 18, 1928, to Rockwell and May (Osborn) Drummond. He was the eldest of five children and a life long resident of Grand Rapids. After attending the University of Pittsburgh and serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned to Grand Rapids where he worked for the family business, Fisher-Drummond for fifty years. A natural businessman, Gordon was committed to serving the customer's needs and to the principles of win-win negotiations for true success. He was a devoted father, he taught swimming and good sportsmanship to his children and hundreds of others. He will be remembered for his cheerful presence at Cascade Hills swim meets, on the golf course, and at the card table. Gordon developed many deep relationships including life long friend, Dick Lacks Sr. and great friend, Paul Creasey. He gained the respect and admiration of all who came to know him. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Ave. S.E. at 36th Street (one block west of Eastern Ave.), Grand Rapids, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Cork Restaurant, 5500 Cascade Road S.E., Grand Rapids, MI, 49546.
