Gloria Mehl

Gloria Lynne (Roehrig) Mehl, age 82, of Newaygo, Michigan, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, June 7, 2025. She was born October 17, 1942, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late William and Norma (Wilbur) Roehrig. Gloria graduated from Newaygo High School with the class of 1960. Shortly after graduation she enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy. She worked many years in the medical field as a lab technician, including 10 years at Howell Hospital. Gloria married Edward Mehl Jr. in 1979, in Howell, MI, and celebrated about 30 years of marriage together before Ed passed away in 2009. Gloria was an animal lover and it didn’t matter if they were wild or tame. She was particularly fond of dogs and cats and in her later years she found great joy in sitting on the porch, watching the birds and squirrels. Gloria also had a passion for jewelry and was a big collector of Fenton Ware. Survivors include her sister, Connie (John) Johnson; brother, William Kim Roehrig; granddaughter, Kacee Cole; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; son, Stephen Reed; daughter, Shellie Cole; brother, Stephen Roehrig; and sister, Jill Roehrig. Per Gloria’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the animal shelter of your choice.
