Glenn Robert Switzer, Jr., age 62, of Greenville, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at home after a life-long struggle with diabetes. The son of Glenn Howard & Carolyn Joyce (Blumberg) Switzer, he was born on October 9, 1955 in Grand Rapids.
Despite being diagnosed with diabetes as a teenager, Glenn proudly served in the U.S. Navy and had worked as a carpenter in the construction trades. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Detroit Lions and was passionate about tending to his pet fish and aquariums.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Switzer; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Deveraux. Survivors include his mother, Joyce Switzer of Greenville; three sisters, Janet & Jim Enbody of Gowen, Pam Deveraux of Greenville, and Laura & Gus Worthington of Gowen; two brothers, Erwin Switzer, and Neil Switzer, both of Greenville; a life long friend, Kevin Ciganik; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rev. Phillip Mills, pastor of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church, will officiate and military honors, rendered jointly by the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 and the U.S. Navy, will conclude the ceremonies. Burial will take place privately at Eureka Township Cemetery.
