Glenn Huizenga

Glenn Edwin Huizenga, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 5, 2019. He was born on August 3, 1938 in Zeeland, Michigan to the late Gerrit and Reka Huizenga. Glenn completed 9th grade at Zeeland Christian Schools. Glenn enlisted into the Army and proudly served his country. He is survived by his five children, Doug (Dawn) Huizenga, Laurie Nanninga, Jeff (Rebecca) Huizenga, Craig Huizenga, and Charles (Jennifer) Huizenga; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Angeline Gruppen and Shirley Rietman; brother, Alvin (Geneva) Huizenga; sister-in-law, Joan (John) Stremler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gertrude (Howard) Gruppen and Jerry Huizenga; brothers-in-law, John Gruppen and Pete Rietman; and son-in-law, Timothy Nanninga. Glenn is best known for being Mr. Fix It at Hess Lake RV park. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time outdoors in his shop. Glenn was an avid golfer and won many golfing awards. He liked traveling the country in his semi-truck, going to the casino on occasion, and most of all spending time with his family. Per Glenn's wishes he wanted a celebration of his life and to be cremated. Glenn's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kindred Hospice of Newaygo and Zeeland. A celebration of his life will take place at Doug and Dawn Huizenga's home at 6009 Blue Spruce Ct., Zeeland, MI 49464 on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
