Gladys Russell

Mrs. Gladys I. Russell, age 90, of Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 21, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The daughter of Grant & Myra (White) Parker, she was born on March 16, 1915 in Reynolds Township. Gladys attended and graduated from the Coral School and retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. On Sept. 14, 1940, in Lakeview, she married Edson R. Russell. She enjoyed listening to music, eating out, and playing cards with her friends. She cherished her family and friends and was always helping her friends and neighbors by driving them to appointments, bringing in meals, and visiting. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edson, on June 28, 1987; two sisters, Harriet Couch and Leona Hicks; and three brothers, Frank, Emory, and Robert Parker. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Caroline (Dale) Nielsen of Coral; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and many, many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Ken Harger, pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will offficate. Honoring Gladys wishes, cremation will follow the service. Visitation is on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the Greenville Area Community Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
