George Chase

September 25, 1932 — January 5, 2024

George David Chase, age 91, of Spencer Township, passed away Friday evening, January 5, 2024 under the loving care of his family and Corewell Health Hospice at his niece’s home in Cedar Springs. The son of George Sylvester & Helen (VanOlstien) Chase, he was born on September 25, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio. George worked as an electrician with Consumers Energy, retiring after 43 years of faithful service. He loved to golf and ride motorcycles. George was a very giving man and blessed many of his friends and family with that generosity, as well as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He had a wonderful sense of humor that we all loved and he will be missed and remembered fondly. On December 4, 1965, in Grand Rapids, he married Kay Francis Quillan and together they enjoyed nearly 44 years of marriage until Kay passed away on June 22, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Catherine Rippie and Janet Chase. Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Shirley Wood of Wisconsin, Betty & Manuel Rodriguez of Lake Odessa, and Jeanie & Bob Hilliker of Cedar Springs; a special niece, Tracy Zavala of Cedar Springs; and many other dear nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Honoring his wishes, no services are planned, however George would have loved contributions in his memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html) To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign George’s online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www.MichiganCremation.com Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
