Mrs. Genevieve Varney, age 83, of Greenville, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 4, 2008 at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of Owen & Germaina (Scranton) Lillie, she was born on Dec. 14, 1924 in Gowen. On May 18, 1956, in Belding, she married Harvey Neal Varney and together they raised three children.
A devoted wife and mother, Genevieve was a skilled seamstress and worked at Jolly Kids in Belding and retired from the Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons. She enjoyed sewing her own clothing, as well as for her family. In retirement, she and Harvey made their home in Alamogordo, New Mexico, returning to Greenville in 1999. She also enjoyed handicrafts, traveling, playing cards, and had been active at the senior centers in both Greenville and Alamogordo.
She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Harvey N. Varney on Dec. 17, 1999; a son, Neal Harvey Varney on Aug. 20, 2006; and six brother and sisters.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Adelia & Dallas Martz of Muskegon; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald & Gloria Seabolt of Greenville; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Norma Jean & Norm Ulch of Harrison, Leonard & Ermetta Varney of Sheridan; and many nieces and nephews.
