Gayle E. Christiansen

Gayle Elizabeth Christiansen, 78, formerly of Belding, Michigan, passed away at home on Friday, November 21, 2025 under the care of her husband and Corewell Health Hospice.

The daughter of Harold M. “Nick” & Ellewyn Rena (Irish) Geisen, she was born on March 23, 1947 at her parent’s home in Belding and was a 1965 graduate of Belding High School.

On February 27, 1978, she married Howard Garfield Christiansen at his parents’ farm in Fairplains Township and together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage and were members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Belding.

Gayle had worked outside the home as a clerk for the Belding Chamber of Commerce at the counter in the Covered Village Mall, as well as a cashier at the Meijer, Jorgensen’s and Save-A-Lot stores. She had been a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother and Webelos leader, and a member of Belding Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Howard Garfield Christiansen, Jr.; and her parents-in-law, Garfield & June Christiansen.

Surviving are her husband, Howard G. Christiansen; three sisters, Carol Smith, Nancy Kliener, and Mary Skivington; her six children, Jodie, Kirk, Kim, Lori, Amanda, and Ryan and their families; two step-sons, Robert and John and their families; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Norma & Dan Hutchinson; a brother-in-law, Wayne & Carol Christiansen; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 422 W. High Street, Belding, with a time of food and fellowship to follow in the church hall. The Rev. Robert Wagner, her pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, will officiate and burial will take place at a later date at South Sidney Cemetery.
