Gary A. Swanger, age 70, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 in the Emergency Room at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The son of Aldon Monroe & Clara June (Heaven) Swanger, he was born on August 30, 1945 in Greenville and was a 1964 graduate of Greenville High School. Gary retired from the former Electrolux Home Products when the plant closed in 2006, and after finding himself bored with retirement, he worked at the McDonald's in Northtown Greenville.
Over the years, Gary enjoyed coin and antique collecting, car shows and vintage automobiles, and was a life long Detroit Tigers fan... having attended his first home game to celebrate his 70th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Terry Swanger.
Surviving are his girlfriend, Juanita Hunt of Lowell; his children, Tami & Scott Cunningham of Belding, Lori Linderman & Chris Witherell of Greenville, Austin Swanger & Lexie Townsend of Belding, and Jodi Swanger & Steven Escarria of Greenville; his grandchildren, Justin Cunningham, Tyler Cunningham, Lucas Hubbard, Zach Hubbard, Elie McGowan, Gabrielle McGowan, Ian Linderman, and Capri Swanger; a great grandson, Gavin Ely; a sister-in-law, Rose Swanger of Florida; and three nephews, Jonathan Swanger, Jared Swanger, and James Swanger.
