Gary Lee Stewart, Sr. age 71, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Greenville, passed away Tuesday morning, July 19, 2011 at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon.
The son of Irving & Leona (Coston) Stewart, he was born on Nov. 25, 1939 in Greenville and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War era. For much of his life, Gary worked as a welder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Lyle Clock; two brothers, Wayne Stewart and Blaine Stewart; and three sisters, Barb Woods, Charlene Jeffrey, and Glenadene Maynard.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary II & Ronda Stewart of Indiana; a daughter, Kirby Johnson of Sheridan; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren (with the ninth due next month); and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at East Montcalm Cemetery, north of Greenville on M-91, with Pastor Timothy DeShaw of the Greenville Church of the Nazarene officiating. Honoring his wishes, cremation has already taken place.
