Gary Hessler

Gary Lee Hessler, went to the "Big Block S" in the sky at 8:30am on April 2, 2022. Mr. Hessler "Coach" "Hess" was many things to many people, but most of all, he was LOVED. Gary was a teacher, coach, husband, partner, father, brother, son, friend, and State fan without equal. He brought kindness, respect, honesty, and positivity everywhere he went. His greatest passions were MSU football and basketball. Mr. Hessler worked at his dream job of teaching for 37 years in the district of Northview, and had a massive impact on countless lives over those years. Hess loved the beautiful state of Michigan, especially near the Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan. His genuine friendliness and upbeat attitude made him a hit wherever he went, and brought him many life-long friends along the way. Gary leaves behind his beloved wife, Susie Gordon-Hessler; his mother, Joyce Hessler; his children, Andrew (Marin) Hessler, Chelsea (Rick) Woudstra; step-children, Matthew (Sarah) Gordon, Jen (Joey) Perosky; his brother, David (Carol) Hessler; nephews, Alex and Connor; and his dearest grandchildren, Melody, Emma, Claire, Kendall, Annabelle, Silas, and Eloise; as well as numerous treasured friends. His final days were spent in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by many close friends and his family. Gary was preceded in death by his late wife, Sandra Ruth (Vantol) Hessler; his father, Russell Hessler; along with several other cherished friends and extended family. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at City Church, 3233 10 Mile Road N.E., Rockford, Michigan 49341.
