Gary R. Ederer

July 19, 2009 — August 20, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Ralph Ederer, who left this world peacefully on August 20th, 2025, surrounded by the love and support of his family and close friends. He was 76 years old.

He was born on July 18th, 1949, to Byron & Mary Ederer, in Saginaw Michigan. Then later settled in Wyoming, Michigan with his Wife Julie.

Gary was a force of nature—funny, outspoken, stubborn, loyal, and deeply loving. With a personality as big as his heart, he could light up a room or shake it up depending on the moment. But to those who truly knew him, he was a fiercely loyal friend, a devoted husband, and a loving father whose support never wavered.

A self-proclaimed “jack of all trades, master of none,” Gary wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He found real pride in his work as a truck driver, and building hotrods. Prior to his trucking career he was a very proud Vietnam Infantry Veteran. He spent years on the road with Amway Trucking along with Amway Expo Team, and New Life Arbor. Off the clock, he could usually be found building or tinkering in the garage—always building something new, always moving.

One of Gary’s proudest and most selfless acts came at the age of 65, when he and his wife Julie made the life-changing decision to adopt their daughter Makenna. And in doing so, he showed the kind of man he truly was: compassionate, committed, and full of love. His unwavering support and belief in others left a permanent mark on everyone lucky enough to be in his life.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Julie (Sauvé) his daughter Makenna (Alex) and his grandchildren (Jameson and Meadow) his siblings Gretchen, Tom, and Tim, and their families; and his mother, Mary. He also leaves behind countless friends who will never forget his humor, generosity, and grit.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his friends for their steadfast support during Gary’s final days. Your presence made a difference that words can never fully capture.

Gary’s legacy is one of hard work, deep love, wild laughter, and unshakable loyalty. He may be gone from our sight, but his spirit lives on in all of us.

Instead of a traditional funeral service, we are celebrating Gary’s life with a car show — a tribute that reflects his passion for cars and the joy he found in the automotive world. Friends, family, and fellow enthusiasts are invited to gather, share memories, and honor their legacy in a way that truly represents who he was. This unique celebration is not only a farewell, but a heartfelt showcase of what he loved most.

It will be held at Brewer Park: 399 84th St SE Byron Center. MI 49315, it will be a potluck style event, bring a dish to pass and whatever vehicle you want!
