Gary Lyle Brail, age 61, of Greenville, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 19, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Hospital, Greenville. The son of Lyle & Pearl Maxine (Tomlinson) Brail, he was born on Jan. 30, 1946 in Ionia. For 18 years Gary worked in private security for Pinkerton, in addition to singing in a band for many years. On June 28, 1997, in Greenville, he married the former Lois Ann Seeba.
He was a life-long member of the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), and enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Brail; his mother and step-father, Pearl Maxine & Wellington "Slim" Mahlich; a sister, Sharon Sharlow; and a step-son, Benjamin LaClear.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Brail; his mother-in-law, Ruth Seeba of Belding; eight step-children, Deb & Rick Bridinger of Hubbardston, Jack & Sue Rose of Muir, Jim Rose of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mike & Paula Rose of Saranac, Jerry & Michelle Rose of Saginaw, Jason Rose (who stayed at home to help care for Gary), Wendy & Dennis Secord of Beatty, Nevada, and Amanda & Shannon Hummel of Belding; twenty-two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Lawrence Tomlinson of Arizona; two nieces, Lisa Henthorne, and Trisha Sharlow; a great niece, Briana Fuchs; and Gary's canine companion, Jackie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2007 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with Elder Varian Bauman of the Community of Christ officiating. Cremation will follow the ceremony at Myrtle Park Crematorium, Rockford.
Visitation is on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions are available.
