It is with heavy heart and sorrow we are announcing the passing of Fred Joseph Visser. Born on October 15, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Fred departed this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Fred will forever be remembered as a loving father, a dedicated grandfather, and a compassionate friend whose thoughtfulness touched everyone he encountered.
Fred spent his most of his years in Comstock Park, MI, . He was a tireless worker, dedicating 45 years of his life as a Material Handler at American Seating Company. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his dedication was a testament to his character. Fred was not only a hard worker but also a man who knew how to enjoy life. He had a deep passion for hunting and loved spending time outside and at his cabin, relishing the tranquility of nature.
A man of faith, Fred was a beacon of love and compassion. As said in 1 Corinthians 16:14, "Let all that you do be done in love." Fred lived this verse in every aspect of his life. His love for his family was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a dedicated caregiver to his beloved wife, Betty Visser, who preceded him in death. His thoughtful nature and selfless love for those around him will forever be etched in our hearts.
Fred leaves behind a loving family who will carry his legacy forward. Surviving are his son, Scott Visser and daughter-in-law, Kay Visser and Fred's daughter, Pam Lewis. His grandfatherhood extended to Desirae (Keith) Wilson, Conrad (maggie) Visser, Aric (Jessica) Lewis, Shawn Lewis, and Brandon Lewis. He was a cherished great-grandfather to Parker and Lola Lewis, Alexandra Lewis, Alex and Hunter Lewis, Scarlett Wilson, and Mason Wilson.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Visser; his wife, Betty Visser; and granddaughter, Andrea Rose Visser. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones and those who were fortunate to know him. As we remember Fred, we celebrate his life, his love, and his indomitable spirit.
Per Fred's wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service at Blythefield Memory Gardens in Belmont, MI will take place at a later date when his remains will be laid to rest with his wife, Betty.
