Frederick Smith

Frederick LeRoy Smith, Jr., age 68, of Stanton, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The son of Willedean (Murphy) & Frederick LeRoy Smith, Sr., he was born on February 28, 1945 in Jackson and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, having proudly served in the United States Navy. Fred retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections after 25 years of service, having worked as a corrections officer at a number of prisons including Riverside Correctional Facility in Ionia. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and memorial services are being planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
