Frederick Hoffman

Frederick L. Hoffman, age 84, of Greenville, passed away Good Friday, April 2, 2010. The son of Lee & Edna (Bonner) Hoffman, he was born on Jan. 26, 1926 in Shelby. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S Army and was a veteran of World War II. For many years he worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company in addition to moonlighting at the old Greenville Furniture Company. In the early 1970s, he relocated to California where he worked in rental property management and later as maintenance superintendent at the Torrey Pines Christian Church in LaJolla. He returned to the Greenville area in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Douglas Hoffman in 1952. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis & Diana Hoffman of Cecil, Arkansas, Curtis & Laura Hoffman of Cedar Springs, and Darrell & Bing Hoffman of Chillicothe, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen & Russ Reeves of Belding; a brother, Roger Hoffman of Florida; eleven grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Tim Bauer of Capstone Ministries in Cedar Springs will officiate and burial, with full military honors, will take place on Monday at 12:00 noon at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek. Instead of flowers, contributions in Freds memory to the Friends of the Michigan Veterans Homes, P.O. Box 805, Grandville, MI 49468-0805 would be appreciated.
