Frank E.
Jaquays
June 17, 1943 – June 5, 2026
Frank Ervin Jaquays, age 82, of Coral, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 17, 1943 to Newton and Virginia (Ostrander) Jaquays. He loved playing baseball, basketball, and football while also working on the family farm where he grew up with a brother, Marvin (Maureen) Jaquays and a sister, Shirley (Bob) Bergin.
He met Shirley (Bannen) at Lakeview High School, and when they married May 11, 1963, he gained a father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Myrtle Bannen, and brother and sister-in-laws, Sharon (Jerry) Freeman, Walter (Nancy) Bannen, and Janie (Dick) Carlson. Frank and Shirley were married 63 years, and when asked about the secret, he would reply that he knew he had picked the best one.
They have three children: Carmen (Chris) Henry, Scott Jaquays, and Greg (Stacey) Jaquays; six grandchildren: Trent (Rachel) Jaquays, Casey (David) Wiers, Ryan Henry, Andrea (Tre) Pretzel, Siearra Feutz, and Kayleigh Feutz; six great-grandchildren: Bretten, Keagen, Sidney, Michael, Callie, and Myla. Frank taught his family the value of hard work and dedication as he was a barber in Lakeview for 43 years, and he farmed with his brother until his health required him to retire.
Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was fishing, attending one of their events to cheer them on, or eating Sunday dinners together. Watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Pistons was another favorite pastime. He had a generous heart and was always there to help anyone in need. He was a longtime member of the Lakeview High School football chain gang and the scorekeeper for the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. Some may say he was encouraged to volunteer so that he wouldn’t be able to yell at the refs. He had a gregarious personality and liked to talk with those he knew and those he met along the way.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sister, father and mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law Janie and Nancy. He was very appreciative of the great care he received from Corewell Health hospital workers, home health care workers, and the Hospice team, along with his family.
There will be a celebration of Frank’s life at Lakeview Community Church with the date and time pending. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Sports Boosters.
