Frank Giglio

Frank Giglio, age 88, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, March 27, 2014 at Our Place Cares, Greenville. The son of Peter & Josephine (Belsito) Giglio, he was born on April 25, 1925 in Caro and attended Greenville High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Frank retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company in 1986 where he worked for over 40 years as a union electrician. An avid reader, Frank also enjoyed golfing and bowling and had been a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101, as well as a life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Parish. In retirement, Frank stayed healthy by walking everyday and also doing aerobics. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, baby Frank; an infant sister, baby Angelene; four brothers, Alfred, George, John, and William; three sisters, Sister Dorothy Giglio, O.P., Betty Povolo, and Ida Rittersdorf; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Povolo and Carl Rittersdorf. Surviving are his sisters, Mary R. Giglio, of Traverse City, Angela M. Giglio, and Arlene Giglio, both of Greenville; his special friend, Glenna Kimmel of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Giglio of Comstock Park, and Carol Giglio-Filer of Scottsdale, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; his golf partner and friend, Ethan Silverthorne of Greenville. Honoring Frank's wishes, private services will be held with rite of committal at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Greenville, and military honors rendered by the U.S. Army. Instead of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory to either Our Place Cares or St. Charles Catholic School would be appreciated. The Giglio family wishes to extend their special thanks to Luanne Kamp and all of the staff at Our Place Cares, as well as Gentiva Hospice.
