Mrs. Frances L. Sis Shotko, age 84, formerly of Cedar Springs, passed away Friday evening, Jan. 12, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The daughter of Peter & Cora (Nordyke) Jansma, she was born on July 1, 1922 in Grand Rapids. On Nov. 24, 1945, at St. Adalbert Basilica in Grand Rapids, she married Stanley Shotko. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she also was an avid seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. Always cheerful and jolly, she will be remembered for her tremendous sense of humor. She was a NASCAR fan and loved to snowmobile. A member of St. Margarets Catholic Church, she also served the Nelson Township election board for 25 years and had worked at Evans Products.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Shotko in 1994; and two brothers. Surviving are three children, Sharon (Dan) Ebels of Gowen, Ron (Kathy) Shotko of Colon, and Nancee (Roy) Morris of Portland; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Alice) Jansma of Middleville, and Robert (Pauline) Jansma of Florida; two sisters, Shirley Pratt of Wayland, and Judy (Dave) Vereeke of Gowen; several siblings-in-law; and many, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
