Everett Paul Walton, age 67, of Oakfield Township, passed away Sunday morning, June 7, 2009, at his home. The son of Lillian (Gifford) & Everett Walton, Sr., he was born on Aug. 6, 1941 in Neptune, New Jersey.
A veteran of U.S. Air Force, Everett proudly served as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections, where he worked as assistant supervisor of food services at the Riverside Correctional Facility in Ionia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, the former Irene A. Thompson-Rentsman, on Sept. 25, 1996; three sisters, Roselyn, Ada, and Claire; and three brothers, Frank, Alan, and Wayne.
Survivors include a brother, Gilbert Walton, with whom he lived; a sister, Thelma (Ralph) Decker of Berlin, Maryland; a special step-daughter, Linda Nichols and her family; and many nieces and nephews.
Honoring his wishes, private services were held with burial at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Oakfield Twp. Fire & Rescue.
