Ethel Withey

Ethel I. Withey, age 81, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, July 21, 2005 at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of Charles & Ida (Squires) Chapman, she was born on May 21, 1924 in Flint. Ethel was a devoted mother and grandma, and had also worked at the former Ore-Ida Foods plant in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Etha; and a son, Phillip Hilderbrant, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Wahlse of Grand Rapids, and Douglas & Vickie Hilderbrant of Greenville; three grandchildren, Kevin & Rebecca Hilderbrant of Greenville, Bobbi & Brian Caswell of Gowen, and Kim & Andy Eversole of Crystal; several great grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Ethel be directed to the patient activities fund at Metron of Greenville. The Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is serving the family and is entrusted with the arrangements.
