Mrs. Esther May Truax, age 73, of Langston, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2008 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids. The daughter of Charles Loren & Lillian Bell (Smith) King, she was born on May 21, 1935 in Greenville.
For over 27 years Esther worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, was a member of UAW Local 137, liked traveling and handicrafts, and enjoyed music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan E. Truax on March 12, 1978; two sisters, Hazel Renewicz and Marjorie Simmons; and seven brothers, Howard, Clarence, Earl, Kenneth, Stanley Sr., Elmer Sr., and Ernie King.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Bruce Patterson of Langston; three sisters, Florence Martin of Gowen, Loretta Merritt of Greenville, and Lorraine Packard of Gowen; many, many nieces and nephews; and Esthers devoted feline companion, Shadow.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with visitation on Tuesday from 6-7 p.m.
