Ernest Eugene Scott, Sr.

Ernest Eugene Scott, Sr. age 84, of Portage, Michigan and former long-time resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. The son of Fred Edward & Margaret Ruth (Robison) Scott, he was born on September 4, 1941 in Mishawaka, Indiana.

After Ernie graduated from Mishawaka High School, he attended pharmacy school at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and spent fifty-five years as a pharmacist, first retiring from CVS. He came out of retirement to work for the State of Michigan, at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital Pharmacy, where he was Director of Pharmacy until he officially retired on January 1, 2016.

Ernie’s most treasured hobby was stamp collecting. He was a member of the West Suburban Stamp Club in Plymouth, Michigan. He combined his knowledge of Michigan history and his talent and love of researching genealogy to create an online resource for other collectors, www.erniesmi.net. He also loved birdwatching and hunting for rocks and loved exposing his children to a multitude of interesting things to study.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Margaret; two sons, Ernest Eugene Scott, Jr. and Robert Stanley Scott; his brother Larry Zehring; and a former wife, Margaret June Miklusak.

Surviving are his children, Fred & Sue Scott of Hermitage, Tennessee, and Michelle Hutchison of Kalamazoo, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Michael Scott, Christopher Scott, Scout Richardson, Sidney Richardson, Shelby Richardson, Nick Weiborg and Dan Weiborg; and two great-granddaughters, Beatrix Weiberg and Luna Weiberg; his sister-in-law, Katherine Zehring; and his former wife, Nancy Gold.
