Ernest Mccombs

March 30, 1958 — May 1, 2022

Ernest Eugene McCombs Jr., age 64, of Allendale, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was born March 30, 1958, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Ernest and Betty (Emmons) McCombs Sr. Ern grew up in the Holton area and graduated from the Holton schools. He worked at Hy lift for over 25 years as a Machine operator and material handler. Ern worked a lot, but when he wasn't working he was spending time with his kids, family, and friends. He definitely enjoyed having a good time no matter what he was doing, whether it be at a friend's house having a cook out or even a bon fire. He loved getting together and just hanging out. Oh and don't forget the music. He loved to just kick back and have a good jam session. We ain't talking some music in the background noise he liked his music loud! He wanted to feel the noise. If his body wasn't vibrating from the music it wasn't loud enough! He enjoyed a wide variety of music, mostly rock; Just don't play weird polka music and he'd be alright. Every Sunday during NASCAR season you know where you'd find Ern. Right in front of the TV watching his man, Dale Sr. or even at a friend's having a NASCAR party. He's been lucky enough to even have gone to a few races with family and friends. He'd always come back burnt like a red lobster, but loved every second of it so it was worth it to him. He was almost always found working in the garage a lot over the years. Working on his own cars or even other people's cars fixing it for them. He liked to work on cars and didn't mind getting dirty cause it meant to get the job done. If he had a job that was challenging to him he never gave up. He most likely cussed and said every name in the book, would get pissed and walk away, but always came back and managed to get it done and done right. Throughout the years of working on cars he'd also work along side his son, Jason and taught him everything he knew. Together they worked on many cars. They learned new ways as the cars got newer. They even got a project car for them to work on, a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass more like a man's toy, but they had great times together once it was done. Got the burnout marks to prove it. Ern loved many things, he lived his life with no regrets and did the things he wanted. He said the best thing in his life was his kids and his grandkids. He loved each and every one of them! Survivors include his four children, Angie (Brian) Wawsczyk, Jason (Erika) McCombs, Josh (Bekah Morrell) McCombs, and Amanda (Edward) Fortuna; grandchildren, Jacob and Ryan Erwin, Caleb and Lily McCombs, and Logan and Abigail Morrell; brothers, Marc (Robin) McCombs and Brad McCombs; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 1:00p.m. until 4:00p.m. at 2861 Panzl Street, Muskegon, MI 49444.
