Emmett O'Hara

July 30, 1947 — February 14, 2024

With profound respect and sorrow, we announce the passing of Emmett Michael O'Hara. Born on July 30, 1947, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Emmett passed on February 14, 2024. A longtime resident of Holland, Michigan, Emmett was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a model of humility and generosity, always putting others before himself. His thoughtful demeanor was a beacon of comfort to those around him, while his wit brought laughter and joy to any gathering. Emmett was a self-employed Mechanical Contractor before retiring in 2003. He tackled his work in fabrication and piping with the same determination and humility that he carried in all aspects of his life. A Vietnam veteran, he was courageous and generous, always ready to lend a helping hand. Beyond his work, Emmett had a passion for learning and teaching about the Bible. He was an amazing artist and a keen reader, enjoyed flying, and loved to travel. His life’s goal was to teach others God’s Will, reflecting the verse from Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Emmett was the beloved husband of Cheng O'Hara. He was the cherished father of John (Cynthia) O'Hara and Susie (Gregory) Wiseman, and proud grandfather of Zachary (Melissa) Wiseman, Katelyn Wiseman, Mickey O’Hara, and Simon O’Hara. Additionally, he was the doting great-grandfather of Luka and Clara Wiseman. He is survived by his siblings, Mary (Peter) Crame, John O'hara, Brian O’Hara, Dennis (Patricia) O’Hara, Mikel (Sue) O’Hara, Timothy (Michelle) O’Hara, Patrick (Tina) O’Hara, and Miles O’Hara. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary O'Hara, and his sister, Eileen Lang; first wife, Sharon O'Hara. Emmett's life was a testament to his faith, his love for his family, and his commitment to service. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he has touched with his generosity and humility. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Emmett to the memorial page, commemorating the wonderful life he lived.
