Elizabeth Stites

Elizabeth N. (Johnson) Stites, age 71, of Rockford, unexpectedly went to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Elizabeth was born on August 5, 1953, in Clarksville, TN, to Hugh T. Johnson & Gladys M. (Pulley) Johnson. She came to Michigan in the late 60’s with her two sisters. Elizabeth worked for Michigan Bulb Company where she made lifelong friends. She loved to garden and spend time with friends. Survivors include her three children, Ronald (Dorothy) Johnson-Warren, Melissa Stites, and Jerry (Michelle) Stites; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, her dog, Gigi; many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Elizabeth was welcomed home in Heaven by her parents, Hugh & Gladys; brothers, Frank & William Johnson; sisters, Barbara Johnson-Magnan & Debra Johnson-Tennant; nephews, Robert & Clifford Magnan; along with many other family friends that made their journey before her. She will be laid to rest with her sister, Barbara, at Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids. The family is dealing with incredible loss at this time. The family of Elizabeth ( Nell ) Stites is hosting a celebration of life on January 11, 2025 at Jackson Street Hall between 1-4 PM. There will be a luncheon, prayer, music and memories shared. In honor of Nell the family will be having her famous pineapple upside down cake competition.
