Eleanor Geer Peake, age 98, of Gowen, Michigan, passed away early Friday morning, October 13, 2023 at her home under the loving care of her family and West Michigan Hospice. The daughter of John & Wanda Fialkowski, she was born on July 31, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan.
On June 19, 1943, in Brighton, Michigan, she married Irving Delos Geer and together they raised three children and enjoyed 43 years of marriage until Irving passed away on June 21, 1986. They raised their children in Livonia, where Irving worked for the City of Livonia while Eleanor worked at home. They were members of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Livonia and were both life members of the Myron H. Beals American Legion Post No. 32, where Eleanor served as president of the ladies’ auxiliary while Irving served as post commander. In the late 1970’s they moved to the area and where members of St. Charles Catholic Church.
Eleanor was devoted to her faith and proud that her children all attended Catholic schools, and enjoyed trips to the casino and wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. In Apache Junction, she met a fellow snow-bird and widower, Hugh Peake, and they enjoyed 19 years of marriage, wintering in Arizona, traveling and dancing, until Hugh passed away on July 29, 2007. T
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a grandson, Michael Parkhill, Jr. on December 7, 2015; a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann (Styes) Geer on November 4, 2020; and four siblings, John Fialkowski, Dorothy Sitarski, Ray Fialkowski, and Theresa Harris.
Surviving are her children, David Geer of Greenville, Daniel Geer of Gowen, and Diane & Mike Parkhill of Pullman; a sister, Clara Haggerty; a sister-in-law, Marge Fialkowski; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren (with the tenth one the way); one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 505 S. Lafayette Street, Greenville, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, with the Rev. Father James B. Wyse as celebrant. Burial beside her late husband, Irving, will take place privately at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Greenville.
