Mrs. Eleanor Leona Adamski, age 89, a daughter of God our Father, formerly of Grand Rapids, was called Home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday morning, August 9, 2009 from Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview.
The daughter of Anthony & Carrie (Szkula) Bogaski, she was born on Jan. 17, 1920 in Grand Rapids and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.
On Jan. 3, 1948, in Grand Rapids, she married Donald J. Danny Adamski and together they lived the Sacrament of Marriage for 40 years. Leona was faithful to the Lord and His Blessed Mother all her life as a Roman Catholic.
A woman of deep faith, she attended the parishes of St. Anthony of Padua, St. Jude, and St. John Vianney in Grand Rapids, Mary Queen of the Apostles in Sand Lake, and St. Charles in Greenville.
She enjoyed making many friends over the years and considered her friends precious gifts from the Lord. May she rest in peace from her labors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Donald; and five sisters, Joyce Bogaski, Barb Olegniczak, Marie Verburg, Marge Studrawam, and Genevieve Quick.
She will be missed very much by her four children, Fr. Donald J. Adamski, O.F.M. Conv. of New Mexico, Carol & Robert Bricker of Greenville, David M. & Rose Adamski of Grand Rapids, and Diane & John Kent of Newaygo; six grandchildren, John G. Kent, Erin Rigney, Sarah & Andrew Braman, Paul Joseph Rigney, David Adamski, and Kimberly Adamski and her fianc Chad McIntosh; and two great granddaughters, Ellie Marie and Alanah Shiloh Braman.
Also surviving are two sisters and four brothers-in-law, Maxine & Fred VanderWoude, Bernadette & Robert Booth, Robert Quick, and Walt Studrawa, all of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanors family is forever grateful to the long term care staff at Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital for their excellent care of Eleanor in giving her such an enjoyable last years of her life.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Adamski will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, (please gather at church), with her son, Father Don Adamski presiding. Rite of Committal will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Wake service beginning at 7 p.m.
